Therapy at Healing Hearts Counseling can benefit anyone who is struggling with a mental health challenge or looking to improve their overall emotional well-being. We work with clients of all ages and backgrounds.

In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment. We will also talk about your medical history and any current symptoms you may be experiencing.

Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming, especially if you are starting counseling for the first time. Our team is here to help you find a therapist who fits your needs, goals, schedule, and comfort level. We will talk through what you are looking for and help guide you toward a counselor who may be a strong fit for your next step.

The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many clients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend less frequently. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

We offer a range of evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based therapies.

Individual therapy sessions are typically 60 minutes long, while group therapy sessions may be longer. The length of each session may vary depending on the needs of the client.

No, a referral is not typically required to begin counseling. Most clients are able to reach out directly to schedule an appointment. However, some insurance plans or specific situations may have different requirements, so we are happy to help guide you through the process and determine the best next step for care.

Trauma-informed counseling recognizes that past experiences can impact how a person feels, responds, connects, and copes in the present. At Healing Hearts Counseling, we aim to provide care that feels safe, collaborative, respectful, and centered on each client’s needs.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy approach designed to help people work through distressing memories, trauma, or difficult life experiences. EMDR is provided by a trained therapist and moves at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for the client.

Stress is a normal part of life, but counseling may be helpful when worry, irritability, overwhelm, sleep changes, panic, or difficulty concentrating begin to affect your relationships, work, school, or daily routines.

Yes, you can still receive services at Healing Hearts even if you are uninsured or we are out-of-network with your policy. Please refer to our Insurance and EAP page for information regarding the Good Faith Estimate for out-of-pocket expenses.

You are able to check your own eligibility and benefits prior to services. Call the customer service line on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

-Do I have benefits for outpatient mental health sessions?

-What is my deductible for the year and has it been met? Does it apply to mental health appointments?

-Are there limitations to the number of mental health sessions I am covered for?

For many insurance plans, you have to meet your annual deductible before your insurance will cover most of the cost of sessions. Some insurance plans waive your annual deductible for outpatient mental health appointments. If your deductible applies to your sessions, you will be paying more out-of-pocket until your annual deductible is satisfied, at which time your costs will drop to a co-pay or co-insurance of a smaller percentage.

We are happy to verify your benefits for you prior to your first appointment in order to give you an estimate on your costs for sessions. Please note that we cannot guarantee your coverage, and any estimate provided to you is not a promise of what you will owe.
